Description - JAMMA / JVS to Mister FPGA PC PS4 PS5 Xbox 360 Nintendo Switch Converter Board

This JAMMA/JVS converter board features two original Raspberry Pi Pico chips (official green board, not a clone) that allow an arcade machine with a JAMMA interface or a JVS console to be converted to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Switch, as well as systems such as MiSTer FPGA and Batocera. The Raspberry Pi Pico firmware is based on GP-2040-CE, adapted to decode JVS IO data and transmit it directly to the chip.

In addition to the modes handled by the two Raspberry Pi Pico units, the board features an additional square USB port with three modes of its own: keyboard mode (JAMMA mapped to ASD-style keys, designed for low-resolution Linux systems such as Batocera or Raspberry Pi), Joysticks (Dinput) mode (the board is detected as two Dinput controllers, compatible with MAME and most Windows emulators) and Xinput mode (the board is detected as two Xinput controllers, compatible with MiSTer FPGA, Linux, Raspberry Pi, Batocera and Steam). The factory default USB mode is Dinput, with 15kHz RGBHV video input.

It is compatible with two types of machine: arcade machines with a JAMMA interface, where the JAMMA connector signals are passed directly to the three USB modes, and arcade machines with a JVS console interface, where the JVS IO client converts the signal to the same three USB modes. It is compatible with common JVS systems such as NNC, Vewlix, Namco and Sega.

It includes a dedicated video amplifier chip that raises the VGA signal from 0.7 Vpp to the 3.3 Vpp standard required by arcade machines, with two output modes: gain mode (3.3 Vpp, for connecting to a JAMMA cabinet with a CRT tube via a VGA to 5BNC cable) and pass-through mode (for connecting to a TV or colour monitor). The input sync signal can be selected between HSync and CSync via jumper. The audio section uses a dedicated pre-processing and isolation chip, noise-free, and requires no audio amplifier or additional external power.

The board brings the 1P/2P 4, 5 and 6 keys out to pins for connecting external buttons and is compatible with the CPS2 KickHarness interface, although it's worth checking that the harness wiring definition matches the board's before connecting it, as some third-party harnesses may require manual adaptation. It also supports the GUNCON2 light gun.

Users who have already received the board confirm it works with MiSTer Pi and other MiSTer variants (direct connection via VGA cable and a USB A cable to the board's USB B port), with SuperStation One Mister and with Xbox 360 (in this case it requires connecting the board to a PC first for initial setup).
