This is without doubt one of the most interesting arcade interfaces on the market. The Daemon Arcade Encoder interface is one of the lowest LAG interfaces available right now. Just 0.74ms of LAG, meaning imperceptible lag even for the most demanding Arcade and Retro gaming enthusiasts. This remarkable board is based on Arduino technology: an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible and easy-to-use hardware and software.
This board is programmed by Arcade Express to be compatible with a wide range of systems: PC, Mister FPGA, Raspberry Pi, Android. Thanks to its high compatibility you can use this interface across many different systems. In addition, this board can also be used to mod and build USB adapters for Neo-Geo controllers and retro computers such as the C64, the Amiga and even older consoles like the Atari. And of course, it is perfect for mounting your Arcade controls in a Bartop, Arcade Machine, Arcade Controller or similar projects.
For PC or Android systems, installing the Daemon interface is extremely simple thanks to the board being Plug and Play. All you need to do is connect the board to the system, configure the buttons to your liking and start playing.
The Arcade Daemon interface is fully compatible with Raspberry Pi 2, 3 and 4 with no file modifications required. Simply connect the board to the Raspberry Pi and it will be recognised as a 1 player joystick. If you want to set up a 2-player Arcade controller you will need to purchase 2 boards, which will be recognised by the Raspberry Pi as 2 separate joysticks.
This remarkable interface is also a very popular choice for building an Arcade controller to use with the fantastic Mister FPGA board. These 2 accessories together, combined with a CRT television, are what we could call the dream setup of any self-respecting retro gamer. The Mister FPGA board + The Daemon Encoder interface + a CRT television would be the closest experience to playing on an original Arcade board, with a perfect image and unbeatable gameplay with less than 1ms of lag.
Below we have included some images showing how to wire everything up depending on the player's needs, as well as a diagram with the recommended configuration for your Arcade controller.
